Description

Jamuni. Gold. Centuries of knowing how.

This Banarasi Uppada silk saree wears its heritage without needing to explain it. The deep jamuni purple body carries small gold zari buttis in careful formation — unhurried, precise — while the border builds into something grander: rich gold zari brocade in floral and lattice patterns that deepen further into the pallu, where the full weight of the weaver's work reveals itself in large, elaborate florals and paisleys. The butti blouse piece, attached, carries the same small gold motifs as the body.

The gold tassels at the pallu are the only flourish this saree allows itself. It doesn't need more.

A gold or champagne embroidered blouse is the natural companion — as shown in the drape, it lets the jamuni and the zari carry all the conversation. Heavy gold jewellery: a layered necklace set, jhumki earrings, and gold bangles worn stacked. Hair half-pinned with accessories or in a loose braid. This saree is for the occasion you have been looking forward to for months,

Care Instructions

  • Dry clean only — Uppada silk and Banarasi zari work both require professional care to retain their texture and sheen.
  • Store folded in a breathable muslin cloth. Do not use plastic covers — moisture can damage both the silk and the zari.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight for extended periods to prevent colour fading in the jamuni base.
  • Handle the gold zari border, pallu, and butti work with care — avoid friction against rough surfaces or sharp jewellery edges.
  • Do not iron directly on the zari work. If required, iron on a low setting on the reverse side with a soft pressing cloth.
  • Store gold tassels carefully, wrapped in tissue, to prevent tangling or fraying.
